Recognising your circle of influence and making it work for you

Recognising your circle of influence and making it work for you

Career Conversations:  Series 2:  Developing Future Leaders - Call 1 ‘Developing Future Leaders’ provided thought provoking discussions on the reality women face when progressing their careers and considering senior opportunities.  Organisations still need to do more to support career progression and provide meaningful high visible projects that can be managed proactively without using external consultants.  Signing up to the Women in Finance Charter is a starting point, but more action is needed to make the changes a reality.

How often do we hold ourselves back from promotion opportunities and voice concerns over requirements of the position?  Are the barriers raised by our own concerns?  How can we address the barriers?  One member shared how subsequent support from a mentor led her to realise how she had put up unnecessary barriers towards a promotion to board level that were manageable in hindsight.  How can we manage these promotion conversations differently but still stay true to our personal values?

Call 2 in the series is will be held on 18th January. The focus of the conversation will be recognising your circle of influence and making it work for you. How we influence others in the workplace? What is the circle of influence? Who is in your circle of influence? How can you make your influencing skills work more effectively?
