Investec launch their Return to Work Programme

Katie.Dix / 04 Nov 2019

We are delighted to see that Investec have launched a market leading return to Work Programme.

Not all careers in financial services are the same: It is possible to combine professional success with the entrepreneurial spirit and genuine relationships that bring an organisation to life. The answer lies in welcoming passionate individuals and giving them the freedom to work at their best.

Investec is offering a Return to Work Programme which will support talented individuals back into full-time work after an extended career break of two or more years.

About the Investec Return to Work Programme

The successful applicants will be offered a paid placement of six months, with a view to permanent employment at the end of the scheme.

Investec has identified a number of mid to senior-level roles available for experienced professionals, and you will be placed within a business area which closely matches your skills and ambitions. In order to help your transition back into the workplace, you will have support from a mentor and buddy from within Investec and full access to networking opportunities across the organisation, as well as coaching from Women Returners.

All of the positions are based in the City of London at Investec’s vibrant offices in Gresham Street. Flexible working options are also available depending on role, team and client needs.

Who Investec is looking for

Investec is keen to hear from candidates who have had a career break of at least two years. During this time, you may have worked on a small-scale or self-employed basis to fit with your commitments, or have not done any paid work for a number of years.

Applicants should have experience in any, or a number of, the following areas:

  • Regulatory systems support
  • Software engineering
  • User research
  • Project management/business analysis
  • Corporate account management
  • Internal audit

Investec will work with candidates to find the right role for you, but please state your preferred team in your cover letter and online application form. More details of the opportunities on offer are detailed below.

The Banking for Business Software Engineering team:

This is an exciting opportunity to join a diverse team on a mission to create a unique banking experience for the UK’s underserved mid-sized companies. The highly creative engineering and research team that you will join plays an integral part in this process: It understands clients’ problems and designs compelling solutions that meet their needs and exceed their expectations.

The CIB Projects team:

This innovative team delivers new ways of working across all areas of Investec. In a hands-on project role, you’ll be involved in these change initiatives from start-to-finish and every day will present new challenges. All projects will be business strategy-driven and some may involve an IT component.

The Prudential Advisory and Reporting team:

This conscientious team ensures Investec is acting responsibly in its financial planning at all times. Through a combination of four practice areas, (capital planning; prudential policy; regulatory reporting and regulatory systems support), it ensures all regulatory capital requirements are met and that all new rule changes are tracked, planned for, and communicated accurately. This role will be based in the regulatory systems practice.

The Corporate Banking account management team:

This is a great opportunity to be part of a highly motivated team that is responsible for growing our corporate banking business.

You’ll work closely with the corporate banking relationship directors to help develop a strong portfolio of clients and ensure high levels of retention. With excellent communication skills, you’ll be the dedicated point of contact on the phone – solving clients’ problems and building authentic relationships. This role will work across Investec’s London and Reading offices and may suit someone who would prefer to be based in Reading long-term.

The Internal Audit team:

The internal audit team plays a fundamental role in life at Investec as it works with all business areas in locations outside of South Africa. Its people are organised with great attention-to-detail – their role is to provide independent assurance to the Board that the risks facing Investec are appropriately managed.
