According to a report in Financial News State Street are banning managers from asking candidates about previous earnings.
Are women as good as men at negotiating salary packages? Interesting topic that caused some debate in the E2W Limited office?
Will banning managers from asking prospective employees about their previous salaries improve the gender gap? I believe that this is a positive and welcome step - it’s obviously part of an overall diversity recruitment strategy at State Street. Like other tactics it will only work if it’s part of a well formed diversity strategy.
