Mentor or Mentee?

Mentor or Mentee?

Rhian Bowler / 10 Feb 2017

“Mentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen and a push in the right direction “ (John C. Crosby).

The E2W members on the Career Conversations call this week certainly agreed with this statement.  Having someone to help ‘navigate difficult work situations’, ‘a sounding board’, someone to help shape career goals and offer an external perspective’ were all views expressed on the call.  The experienced mentor provided words of wisdom and agreed a mentor can assist with ‘road blocks’ and give new perspectives. Both parties need to be open and respect the relationship, setting clear expectations on how to work together effectively.  Sheryl Sandberg writes in her book ‘Lean In’, “the strongest relationships spring out of a real and often earned connection felt by both sides”.

E2W are establishing an informal members only ‘Mentoring Scheme’.  For more information or to become a mentor or mentee please contact membership@e2w.co
