Celebrating the success of our members

Celebrating the success of our members

Mark.Freed / 05 Apr 2019

On Thursday 28 March, E2W held its first networking event of 2019 at The Listing in the City of London. We were thrilled with the number of members and prospective members that attended and it was fantastic to be able to put faces to names and meet others for the first time.

It was an informal gathering (one member was showing her wedding photos around) but certainly one where we could get down to business too. We speak to HR and Recruitment departments such a lot that it’s always refreshing to hear about the work that teams ‘on the ground’ are doing and, for example, how teams are trying to improve processes. We enjoyed celebrating a member’s recent new role as well as welcoming a new graduate – graduates are the talent pipelines of the future.

Naturally, when I’m in the room, conversation returns to diversity and inclusion and it was sad to hear from one member who told me that her organisation seems to be a long way behind; great that she came along though to meet her peers and hear what other companies are doing to progress D&I.  We’re always on the look out for E2W Ambassadors – those members that can help to influence gender diversity within their workplace and really, effect change from the bottom, up.

I also talked about other women’s networks and gender as a whole in private equity with a member and the concept of women returners who don’t want returnships. Plans were hatched. One of E2W’s new coaches was also in attendance - a great introduction to our membership for her.

It was a very relaxed evening – we even had some unexpected live music thrown in! The highlight was, perhaps, when a few minutes after announcing that I had just broken a world record for catching and throwing a water polo ball – that I dropped a glass!
