Are highly experienced, mature and talented Women Returners threatening to Hiring Managers? 
 
Over the last few months I have had the great pleasure of speaking to a large number of women looking to or who have recently returned to careers in Financial Services after a career break.  
 
One rather concerning theme kept coming up. Returners felt that some hiring managers might actually feel threatened by them.
 
Returners are mature and  capable people with a range of talents developed in and more recently outside the industry. They are often ambitious to catch-up and needing an opportunity to re-start their careers are often open to considering a wide variety of roles.  They are different from the typical candidate.   Whist these attributes are highly valuable to a firm the returners we spoke to thought they might have been off putting to a hiring manger more comfortable with the ‘norm’.  
 
Collecting the Gender Dividend is vitally important to our clients and ensuing the success of returner programmes is key to that. To help improve these programmes we would like to hear your opinions – as a returner or hiring manager?
