Alpha Challengers are excited to about the second episode of the Sharing the Knowledge Series with an event designed to help you understand the application of Artificial Intelligence in Financial Services. 

How will AI change finance in various business areas: trading, credit equity / analysis, risk management and fraud detection?
Are the various financial participants ready to implement AI. Banks vs Asset managers vs Fintech's  and who will be the winners and losers ? 
What jobs may become obsolete/ replaced by AI technology and what jobs will be created?

Our panel of experts include:-

Ivana Bartoletti is Technical Director at Deloitte, a public speaker, author and media commentator. In her day job, Ivana helps businesses with their privacy by design programmes especially in relation to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and blockchain technology.

Ivana was awarded ‘Woman of the Year’ (2019) in the Cyber Security Awards in recognition of her growing reputation as an advocate of equality, privacy and ethics at the heart of tech and AI.

Her first book, ‘An Artificial Revolution: on Power, Politics and AI’ was published in May by Indigo Press, and is available here.

Julia Valentine is a technology services leader and business operations executive with over 20 years of experience at top-tier financial firms. She has previously worked at JPMorgan Investment Bank, a quantitative hedge fund
D. E. Shaw & Co, and a top-ten Family Office. Most recently, she was the Chief Technology and Operations Officer at the State of Wisconsin Investment Board.

Ms. Valentine’s broad experience in FinTech includes governance, strategy, technology & operations, digital transformation, big data and AI/RPA.

Ms. Valentine earned her MBA from Columbia University and her bachelor’s degrees in economics and finance from New York University Stern School of Business. While at NYU, she received the Jacob Marschak Memorial Award for Excellence in Quantitative Analysis and Econometrics.

Lucy Demery is Managing Director and Global Head of Fintech Banking at Standard Chartered, where she leads institutional coverage of the fintech sector. Lucy also works with SC Ventures, Group Strategy and Corporate Development on the Bank's fintech partnerships and investments. Lucy is a member of the UK Government’s Fintech Investment Group, a selection panellist for The FinTech50 and a regular speaker at fintech conferences.

Prior to joining Standard Chartered in 2015, Lucy was an investment banker at J.P. Morgan and an M&A lawyer at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP in New York. She has also worked in development finance in Southeast Asia. Lucy grew up in Hong Kong, graduated with First Class Honours from the London School of Economics and received her Juris Doctorate from Columbia University, where she was a Kent Scholar.

 

Steven Hunter is co-founder and CEO of 9fin, a fintech that provides AI powered financial data for the bond market.

9fin uses machine learning and computer vision to extract key information from financial documents. By making data easy to search, filter and analyse, 9fin allows financial professionals to make better investment decisions.

The company’s predictive analytics help forecast key capital markets events with a high degree of accuracy these include defaults, ratings changes, refinancing & recapitalisation transactions.

Before founding 9fin Steven worked as an Investment Executive at Babson Capital Management covering the European High Yield Bond and Leveraged Loan market.

Steven has also worked previously in the Leveraged Finance team at J.P. Morgan in London. He graduated from the University of Bristol with a first class honours degree in Law.
