Sharing the Knowledge Episode 4: Lin Yue - China, A personal journey

Organised by Molly PetkenIva Horčicová and Mark Freed.

We are delighted to introduce our guest speaker: Lin Yue, Executive Director, Goldman Sachs Asset Management.

Join Lin Yue, an Executive Director from Goldman Sachs Asset Management, to share her personal journey of growing up in China as one of 400m Chinese ‘millennials’: raised in one-child households, shaped by an era of unprecedented economic growth and ideological stability, and empowered by technology. There is a wealth of data about China to help us understand what is happening, Lin’s insights will answer why it’s happening – from the emerging identity of this influential generation, to the fundamental mind-sets that drive China’s decision making, her talk provides unique insights to help navigate our future where China is significant at every level.

About Lin Yue:

Lin Yue is an Executive Director at Goldman Sachs Asset Management in London. She is responsible for growing and managing key relationships across UK institutional investors.

As one of the senior executives of mainland Chinese origin in the City of London, she has helped elevate women and ethnic minorities in the workplace. She inspired professionals to challenge stereotypes, and to strive for success as their authentic self.  She is a thought leader on Diversity&Inclusion, workplace cultures, and decoding differences between China and the West - her insights and speeches are widely sought for their unique perspectives, originality and passion.

Lin has been honoured on many occasions for her work. She was recognised as HERoes 100 Women Future Leaders List in 2020, as a top 5 Future Leaders for HERoes Women Role Model , on Brummell’s list as one of 50 most inspirational women in the City of London, one of the 50 Ethnic Minority Future Leaders by EMpower, and the winner of the “Excellence in Banking” award at the Chinese Business Leaders Awards.

A graduate of Experimental Psychology from Oxford University, Lin is also passionate about applying psychology at workplace and beyond and making life skills accessible to all.

About Alpha Challengers:

We want to change the industry for good, so we know we must help the next generation of female leaders to grow, flourish and achieve their ambitions.

This is why we created our Alpha Challengers group. It’s open to ambitious E2W members who are in the first ten years of their financial services careers and want a caring and supportive network to help them reach the top.

Our Alpha Challengers work together to support each other in a wide range of areas, including personal development and industry knowledge. Where possible, each Alpha Challenger receives a mentor from the wider E2W community to provide them with expert guidance – plus they can offer their own mentoring in turn to young women at university wishing to enter the industry.
