They have partnered with E2W to help further strengthen their gender balance, and as a result have asked us to help them recruit a Regional Portfolio Manager.

The Department

The department is responsible for investment activities: origination, structuring and portfolio management/diversification of lending and purchasing relationships.

The Position        

This individual is responsible for securing and managing the investment pipeline from initial prospecting efforts through to deal closing and beyond, including a critical role in structuring new transactions and monitoring the performance of the investment portfolio.

Key responsibilities and tasks include:

  • In conjunction with the CEO and CIO, formulating the portfolio investment strategy in line with the fund's financial and social goals
  • Ensuring the cultivation of prospective transactions and aligning the pipeline with the agreed investment strategy, continually re-assessing risk appetite and other investment criteria on an ongoing basis to ensure optimal timing and acceptable risk-adjusted returns
  • Overseeing the execution of the investment strategy and coordinating the origination, structuring and underwriting of investment opportunities
  • Overseeing the financial, operational, and legal due diligence efforts for potential transactions
  • Acting as voting member of the Investment Committee and providing recommendations and advice on investment opportunities
  • Implementing investment policies in line with the fund’s mandate
  • Monitoring the portfolio and analysing the performance drivers and risk factors on an ongoing basis
  • Ensuring the continued development and improvement of the bank's investment
  • Practices and processes to ensure they adequately fulfil the fund's mandate
  • Playing an integral role in fund raising by attending investor meetings, presenting the fund's strategy and investment process, articulating the rationale for the portfolio composition and assessing the results against fund's mandate and relevant benchmarks
  • Managing and developing a growing team of investment management professionals
  • Maintaining and distributing an accurate and up-to-date report of all confirmed and estimated partner inflows and outflows to assist the investor relations team with ensuring the pipeline of prospective investor transactions is in line with anticipated partner-related cash flows

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities     

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, especially the ability to train, manage and motivate junior staff as well as an ability to build relationships with current and potential clients of the bank
  • Proven ability to operate to tight deadlines with minimal or no supervision. Capable of maintaining a high level of productivity while traveling or working from home
  • Extensive experience with structuring debt transactions for private small and mid-cap companies and publicly traded mid-cap companies
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyse complex information to identify the key issue/action and drive resolution
  • Familiarity with the concepts of factoring, supply-chain finance and trade finance
  • Proven ability to understand a number of risk types, specifically:

- Liquidity risk
- FX risk
- Interest rate risk
- Credit Risk
- Concentration and counterparty risk
- Political Risk
- Macroeconomic Risk
- Capital controls and withholding taxes

  • Understanding of the issues involved in running a business, including the key financial dynamics and drivers
  • Familiarity with and prior involvement in financial and strategic planning
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Finance, Maths, Engineering, Economics, Accounting or Foreign Area Studies is preferred

Travel - up to eight weeks of travel per year may be required.
